What we publish
Currently, Bow & Chariot seeks micro and flash fiction between 500–1,500 words. We are drawn to the otherworldly, the strange, the unsettling, and the unexpected. Send us your visions of elsewhere, whether in sci-fi, fantasy, horror, romance, or the unclassifiable weird. We don’t just publish stories; we put them into the world, promoting both the piece and the writer so they resonate beyond the page. Emerging or established, we don’t care. Just give us a damn good story.

Payment
We currently pay a semi-pro rate of 1–3 cents/word via Paypal.

Formatting

• Submit stories in 12 pt Times New Roman or Courier.

• Double-space your manuscript.

• Include the story title and word count at the top of the first page.

• Please submit as a .doc, .docx, or .pdf file.

• No AI-generated writing — human voices only. But we do love a good story about AI.

Submission rules

• One story per submission. Multiple submissions are fine, but send each in separately.

• Please withdraw your piece immediately if it’s accepted elsewhere.

• Reprints are not accepted at this time.

• Please proofread your work before submitting. Small typos won’t disqualify you,
  but polished writing is always best.

• Do not email us your submission, please use the online submission form.

Response time
We aim to respond within 2–4 weeks. If you haven’t heard back after that, feel free to query.

Rights
We ask for first world electronic rights and non-exclusive archival rights (your story will remain on our site).
All rights revert to you after publication.

By submitting, you agree that if accepted, Bow & Chariot may use your story title, brief excerpts, and related visuals for promotional purposes — to highlight both the magazine and the author. We may share your name and social media handles when promoting your work, unless you request otherwise. If you prefer to remain anonymous or not have your social media linked, please let us know at acceptance. Your story itself will still be promoted.
